As a result of California’s “malpractice cap” law, Wilcoxen Callaham, LLP is one of the few remaining firms that regularly handles medical malpractice cases for people injured as a result of medical negligence.

We strongly support Consumer Watchdog’s campaign to overturn the 38-year-old law that undermines the very foundation of a trial by jury and sets a $250,000 cap on the recovery for victims of medical negligence. Governor Jerry Brown signed MICRA into law in 1975 when legislators made $22,000 per year. Lawmakers’ salaries have gone up more than 400% since then, but the value of the lives of victims of medical negligence hasn’t gone up at all.
